This position paper presents the EEAC Network's recommendations for an EU Framework Law on Sustainable Food Systems, highlighting the need for a systems approach to Europe's triple challenge of healthy diets, climate change and biodiversity, and the importance of a just transition in which food prices reflect their true costs.

Towards a sustainable food system: a position paper on the framework lawThe position paper presents the EEAC Network's recommendations on the Framework Law on Sustainable Food Systems proposed in the EU's Farm-to-Fork Strategy. It argues that Europe's food system does not deliver sustainable diets and calls for a systems approach involving all actors. It proposes "ensure sustainable diets" as the law's guiding principle, supported by farm certification, a blending obligation for processors, just-transition measures, and coordinated EU and national governance.
