WG Health webinar

The webinar explored the current place of health policy within the EU agenda, at a time when security and competitiveness are increasingly impacting and shaping European policymaking. The session reflected on how health systems, public health priorities, and wellbeing are connected to geopolitical, economic, and environmental pressures.

The discussion focused on the current state and future direction of EU health policy, with particular attention to how European initiatives are placing health and wellbeing across policy areas and how health policy is being affected by changing geopolitical landscape. The session also considered the role of advisory councils in identifying challenges and opportunities for action.

The webinar opened with remarks from Arnau Queralt Bassa, Chair of the EEAC Network and Co-chair of the WG Health. It featured contributions from two distinguished speakers: Caroline Costongs, Director of EuroHealthNet, who discussed how EU initiatives are integrating health and wellbeing, and Dr. Matthias Wismar, Programme Manager at the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, who reflected on EU health policy in changing geopolitical landscape. The session ended with closing remarks by Valentin-Veron Toma, Co-chair of the WG Health.

The webinar provided valuable insights into the relevance of health policy for Europe’s future and offered reflections to support advisory councils in responding to a complex policy environment.
